WHAT IS FSSAI REGISTRATION (FOOD LICENSE)

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) is an independent agency created by the Indian government’s Ministry of Health & Family Welfare. The Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, a consolidated act pertaining to food safety and regulation in India, is what gave rise to the establishment of the FSSAI. It is a body that oversees and controls the Indian food industry. By policing and overseeing food safety, FSSAI License is in charge of defending and advancing public health.
Before beginning a food business, you must get an FSSAI License or register with the organization. All food-related enterprises, including manufacturers, traders, restaurants, small eateries, grocery stores, importers, exporters, home-based food businesses, dairy farms, processors, retailers, and online merchants, are required to register with the FSSAI.


HOW TO APPLY FOR FSSAI REGISTRATION

FSSAI Registration applications can be submitted online, but a professional must always present them. So, the FSSAI Application process has been condensed here.
The Food and Security Office must receive Form A (the application) before the FSSAI registration process can begin.
The Department may accept or reject this application within seven days of the application date, and any decision must be communicated to the applicant in writing.
In the event that the application is approved, the division will then permit a registration authentication that includes the applicant’s photo and enlistment number.

FSSAI LICENSE VALIDITY

The food business operator must submit an application for the license renewal within 30 days of the license’s expiration date, in accordance with FSSAI regulations. A Rs. 100 late fee is applied to each FSSAI Renewal Application submitted after the expiration date.


FSSAI RENEWAL

Every food business operator in India must obtain an FSSAI registration or food licence before opening their doors for business. Similar to the FSSAI License, it must be renewed promptly or before it expires.
The food license granted to the owner of the food establishment may be valid for 1 year or up to 5 years. The length of the FSSAI License determines the FSSAI registration fees. Each food business operator is required by the FSSAI regulations to submit an application for FSSAI renewal 30 days before to the expiration of the present food licensee.
FSSAI Licenses are subject to a fine of Rs 100 per day if the application for FSSAI License (state and Central) renewal is not submitted within the allotted time.
